Serenading the Ladies of the Telephone Company

Newspapers.com has recently added some new collections. I was able to find another article mentioning my great-grandfather Harry O'Brien, which provides some new insight into his life before he went off to college in New Orleans. Harry appears in the 11 August 1903 edition of the Mattoon Daily Journal. He would have been 19 years old at the time, and he was working as a night watchman at the Shelbyville Waterworks, in addition to playing in the local Queen City band.
