My First Find in 1940 Census

My first family find in the 1940 Census is of my second great-grandmother, Sarah Ellen Armstrong Jones. In the census taken on 3 April 1940, she was living in the home of her son-in-law, David Lee Hendrickson, who had married her daughter, Edna Florence Jones. They were in Sugar Creek Township, Thorntown, Indiana.

What's interesting about this is living three houses down from the Hendrickson's were Walter Couger and [Mary] Emily Oyler Couger. Emily was a daughter of Charles John Oyler and Agnes Lydia Allman. Emily's sister Alma Oyler married my great-grandfather, Edgar Lawrence Jones. Edgar and Edna Florence Jones were twins. My Gumpy has written stories about his Aunt Emily who was a school teacher in Thorntown. It's nice to see her in the census.

Sarah Ellen Armstrong Jones died by 29 April 1940.
